Comfort Food @ Oriental Cravings, 1Utama

There are some days when you just crave for some comfort food...

I've been to Oriental Cravings a few times but did not quite have the time to photograph the food or decor there.

So, one particularly cold day in July, I went to have some comfort food...

The Bak Kut Teh (literally translates to Pork Bone Tea from Hokkien) is one of my favourites. I was introduced to this dish by a friend some years back. The broth is not too heavy and reminds me of the Teo Chew style which has a more "clear" soup. The portion for 1 includes a bowl of rice.

The yam cake is pretty good and worth a try. I'm not a big fan of yam cake but for me, I would have liked to have a bit more of the chilli paste.

I topped off my lunch with a nice cup of Teh Tarik or "pulled tea".

Ahhh.. bliss..

  1. Usually yam cake is more paste like but I see this one still has yam chunks in it. YUM!

I love the yam cake at Oriental Cravings. And their glutinous rice dumplings too.

  3. Hey ladies!! Nice to see your comments...

Yeah, their yam cake was pretty good. At least not so mashy as other places. I think next time I've got to ask for more chilli.

  6. Alvin - Eeee... Must stay away from their "day special". What was it btw? Maybe I didn't kena because I took their hot, boiling soup?

Foongpc - Looks like their menu is relatively unchanged.
